As a stronghold for University of Florida Gators, Gainesville supplies requisite retail and discount shopping options to feed voracious demand. The Gator Shop, north of the university stadium, stocks Florida Gator merchandise, from hats to car accessories for football, basketball, or generic fans. The Oaks Mall, a regional magnet at Newberry Road and I-75 anchored by Sears, JCPenney, Macy’s, Dillard’s, and Belk, features 140 specialty stores from Abercrombie & Fitch to Victoria’s Secret, plus a food court and the Oaks Mall Swamp for small fry. Within walking distance are the Oaks Mall Plaza and several other retail centers. Butler Plaza, on Archer Road between I-75 and SW 34th Street, is a three-section retail complex of more than 75 stores, with Target, Wal-Mart, Best Buy, Office Depot, and restaurants galore on a mile-long stretch. Smaller centers include Thornebrook Village, Millhopper Shopping Center, Newberry Crossing, Newberry Square, Tower Center (all in the northwest); Gainesville Shopping Center (north of downtown), and Westgate and Creekside Mall, (both west of campus). Union Street Station and the Sun Center provide downtown retail pizzazz. Retail shops near University Avenue and NW 13th Street cater to U.F. students. North on 13th Street, where the Gainesville Mall once lived, a second Wal-Mart operates alongside a Sam's Club, and other retail outlets. Amid Ocala’s horse country, Paddock Mall features Belk, Macy’s, JCPenney, and Sears.
